From the moment you meet him, it’s hard not to fall for his sweet and sensitive soul. Danny is a gentle giant—tall, with the longest legs you’ve ever seen—but his calm and gentle nature makes you forget all about his size.
Always the perfect gentleman, Danny is ready to shower his humans with love and cuddles, making every moment in his company a joy.
It took Danny a little longer to reveal his personality when he first arrived. He wasn’t nervous, just a bit aloof, and it’s taken some time to uncover his special quirks and qualities. But that’s part of what makes him so special—he’s a dog who takes his time to build relationships, and once he does, the bond you share with him is truly remarkable.
Now that I know the kind-hearted and loving boy behind his quiet exterior, I feel incredibly lucky to be part of his world.
Danny’s little face lights up when he sees someone he loves, his tail wagging furiously in full helicopter mode, and it’s moments like these that show just how deeply he cares about his special humans.
Danny’s calm and compassionate nature makes him a wonderful companion who instantly puts you at ease when you’re with him. He’s laid-back yet playful, perfectly balancing his chilled-out side with bursts of fun during his typical “mad five minutes.”
His affectionate personality shines the brightest with those he fully knows, and while he may come across as aloof during viewings, it’s only because he takes time to reveal his full self.
For the person willing to give him that time, Danny will repay them with unwavering loyalty, love, and companionship.
Danny’s size might make him stand out—he’s certainly on the bigger side—but I hope it doesn’t lead to him being overlooked. There’s simply more of him to love!
He’s a gentle, well-behaved boy who has been an absolute pleasure to care for every day in the kennels. With his big heart and calm presence, Danny has all the qualities to be the perfect companion. For someone who can see past his size and appreciate the wonderful dog he is, Danny will be the most loving and devoted addition to their family.
Danny is currently sharing a kennel with one of our long-term residents, Amber, who can be a little tricky to win over at times. However, Amber absolutely adores calm and soppy boys, so it’s no surprise that she and Danny have hit it off perfectly.
Amber’s fondness for Danny speaks volumes about his gentle and special nature!
Danny loves spending time with his greyhound friends and is very social, so we think he would happily live alongside a female hound in his forever home.
That being said, Danny doesn’t rely on other dogs for confidence and is perfectly content in his own company. He would thrive as either the only hound in the home or as part of a pack—he’s wonderfully adaptable and will settle beautifully into a variety of living situations.
Danny is equally comfortable and friendly with humans, which makes him a great candidate for a family environment. We feel he would do well with older, dog-savvy children who can understand and respect his laid-back nature, rather than very young children who might overwhelm him.
Danny would also fit in perfectly in an adult-only home, where he can soak up all the attention and be the centre of his forever human’s world. No matter the setting, Danny’s adaptable and social personality means he’ll settle in as if he’s always been there.
During his dog test, Danny showed off his friendly and polite nature. He approached Blossom with excitement, his helicopter tail in full swing, and after a few polite sniffs, he was more than happy to trot alongside her up the road.
His easy going and friendly demeanour makes him a joy to be around—he gets along with everyone he meets, both human and hound.
Danny is truly everything you could ever want in a Greyhound. His sweet, calm, and social nature will bring so much joy and love to his forever family, and we know he will change their lives for the better.
